Dearest Families,
I am writing to share that Wednesday, May 28th, will be my last day teaching fourth grade. After three and a half years of waiting, my family finally received an adoptive court date. We are flying to Addis Ababa, Ethiopia on Thursday. We are relieved and thrilled to be able to bring our children home.
I announced this news to the class on Friday, and it seems we have acquired a new vocabulary word - bittersweet. I certainly will miss the "warm and fuzzy" activities I have planned for the last week of school, especially our final Author's Celebration. Our class will move forward with our planned schedule. No dates or activities will change.
Mrs. Denae Valverde and Mrs. Kim Corona will be here in my place. I feel completely confident in their ability to cover my classes, especially knowing that most of the kids know both of them. Rachel Owens will work with both ladies to organize year end classroom needs.
While I'm away, please contact the front office with any needs or changes to your child's schedule. They can be contacted at 281-465-5900 or [email protected] / [email protected] .
This year has been a wonderful time in the classroom. It has been a tremendous privilege to teach your children and watch them grow. They have built a strong community and are well prepared for 5th grade. I look forward to checking in with them next year.
Parents, thank you for all of your support and encouragement this year. My heart is full! I hope you enjoy a wonderful summer with your fifth grader!
Sincerely,
Meg
